What We Do

Commonwealth Games 2014

A sporting legacy for LGBT people across Scotland.

LEAP Sports Scotland is committed to engaging with and capitalising on the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to the benefit of LGBT people across Scotland. National and international sporting events bring people together in many exciting ways: connections are reinforced through patriotism; passion leads to the formation of new communities, both geographical and social. We will work to harness the positivity surrounding the Games to promote our objectives and will refocus our approach to reflect what is happening in the wider Scottish sporting community.

LEAP Sports Scotland will seek to work with the Commonwealth Games organisers to ensure that LGBT people are central to the Games; we are committed to pursuing a legacy for LGBT people and will seek to work with the organisers to that end. We will work with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) to inform our strategy and to ensure that we are recognising and implementing existing good practice.

Over the coming months we will begin to determine what the legacy we are pursuing will look like. The LGBT community is at the heart of everything we do, so please get in touch with your thoughts and ideas about how we can best use the Commonwealth Games to generate a lasting, positive impact in sport for LGBT people across the country.
