Conference contributors announced

Back in October, we announced our Diverse Identities in Sport conference would be taking place on Friday 4th March 2016.

We are pleased to bring you details of the first of our contributors as our conference registration opens.

Jamie Hepburn MSP is Scottish Government Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health, and will open our conference.
Pat Griffin is a Professor at University of Massachusetts and is a renowned researcher and writer on LGBT issues in education and athletics and authored Strong Women, Deep Closets: Lesbians and Homophobia in Sports, and On The Team: Equal Opportunities for Transgender Student-Athletes amongst many others.
Jennifer Birch-Jones is from the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) and authored Leading the Way; Working with LGBT Athletes and Coaches, a resource which reflects the voices of Canadian athletes and coaches.
Mary Louise Adams from Queen’s University teaches on sport and culture and authored Artistic Impressions: Figure Skating, Masculinity and the Limits of Sport and The Trouble with Normal: Postwar Youth and the Making of Heterosexuality

We are also pleased to have Martin Cremin Commonwealth Games Team Scotland athlete and LEAP Sports Scotland Patron, join us as a special guest.

The conference will take place on Friday 4th March from 9.30am until 4.30pm at the Scottish Youth Theatre, Brunswick Street, Glasgow. You can sign up to attend via our new events website and hear as further speakers and guests are announced.
