In the last few weeks, LEAP Sports have received two amazing awards for our work in equality in sport initiatives. This year we received the Sports Icon of the Year Award at the 2016 Icon Awards. Not only was it a great honour to receive the award, but a privilege to be highlighted in the company of many wonderful icons and role models that we take great inspiration from. Other winners on the night included Angela Crawley MP, Susan Douglas-Scott and Glasgow Women’s Library.

Jog Scotland shortlist recognition for Edinburgh Frontrunners

Debbie Aitken, President and Jog Leader with LGBT running group Edinburgh Frontrunners , has been shortlisted in the Leader of the Year category at this year’s jogscotland awards Debbie was one of Edinburgh Frontrunners’ first Jog Leaders. She integrated their Learn to Run programme into the group, and also helped jogscotland trial a new walking programme, resulting in a great range of abilities being supported by the group.

A new club burst onto the scene last night in the southside of Glasgow… a new gay-inclusive rugby club that is. Despite a big range in experience, age and fitness levels, Glasgow Alphas managed to provide an enjoyable and welcoming experience for the 17 enthusiastic new members who came along. Coach and founder of the club, Adam Harrison, was delighted with the turnout and excited about the future of the group.
