Rainbow School Backpack project

Youth exchange to Slovakia now open for sign-ups.

Are you aged 18-30? Identify as LGBTI+ or have an interest in LGBTI+ rights and inclusion within education? Want to develop your activism? RAINBOW SCHOOL BACKPACK youth exchange may be perfect for you!

Rainbow School Backpack is a youth exchange over 8 days with different workshops and activities running across the week. The goal is to improve the lives of young LGBTI+ people and to create a safe space where you will feel comfortable to discuss sensitive subjects, share experiences and coping strategies.

The project will take place between 30th September — 7th October 2017 in Kysak, Slovak Republic and include a variety of different people from Scotland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Romania, and Czech Republic. There is a small fee of £20 but flight, accommodation and activities are all funded for you.

The project has been created as a response to LGBTI+ youths need to talk more about their experiences and lower the negative impact of LGBTI+ phobia, as well as the need for cisgender heterosexual young people to understand more about their LGBTI+ counterparts and work at becoming better allies.

If 8 days of workshops, activities, teambuilding, and discussions in the beautiful Slovakian countryside sounds like something you would be interested in then feel free to email Anghi on anghi@leapsports.org for more information or questions, or go ahead and apply for the project HERE! We are especially keen to hear from those with an interest in PE and could be part of the work of our Manifesto.  Please note that the deadline is 4th September.

You can also check out this blog piece by Andrew who has taken part in an exchange event in Kysak before.
