Project Officer (Trans Active Edinburgh)

We are looking for someone to fill the new role of Project Officer (Trans Active Edinburgh) and lead the expansion of Trans Active Glasgow into the Edinburgh City Region (ECR).

Trans people face multiple barriers to participation in sport and physical activity. Trans Active Edinburgh is a community development project which will set up a social and physical activity group designed to improve the physical health and mental wellbeing of trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people in the ECR. The project will directly reduce the exclusion of trans people whilst empowering them to be more physically active.

The successful candidate will:

  • Set up a social and physical activity group designed to improve the physical health and mental wellbeing of trans people in the ECR
  • Taking a multi-sport approach, set up regular physical activity sessions
  • Engage with the ECR sport and physical activity community to identify activity opportunities and pathways into regular participation
  • Aid group participants in overcoming barriers to participation, working with community members with different experiences of gender and levels of sporting experience.
  • Facilitate ‘Coaching for Coaches’ sessions, connecting with frontline sport and physical activity providers to increase their understanding and knowledge around the access and inclusion of trans people in their activities

The job is based in Edinburgh, and is currently partially home-based. The job is 11 hours per week, with a salary of £23,664 per annum pro rata. The contract will initially be for 6 months, as Trans Active Edinburgh is a six month pilot project, with continuation subject to funding.
