FvH Scotland Steering Group

LEAP Sports are looking for members of our new Football v Homophobia Scotland Steering Group. The group will advise on LEAP Sports’ football work including FvH Scotland direction and strategy. Membership of the group is voluntary positions with reasonable expenses covered.

Background;

LEAP Sports is Scotland’s LGBTIQ+ sports charity, which coordinates Football v Homophobia Scotland. We work to remove the barriers which prevent LGBTIQ+ people from accessing, participating, enjoying, and excelling in Scottish football.

FvH Scotland covers the following areas of work;

  • LGBTIQ+ grassroots club development
  • LGBTIQ+ supporters group development Education delivery
  • Professional football sector support
  • Coordinating the Football v Homophobia month of action in February and the Football v Transphobia week of action in March

Steering Group Purpose;

The purpose of the FvH Scotland Steering Group is to give direction and support to LEAP Sports’ Football v Homophobia Scotland work. This will include all aspects of the charity’s work in the football sector, both in Scotland and beyond.

Steering group members are expected to;

  • Advise on LEAP Sports’ football work including FvH Scotland direction and strategy.
  • Work to an agreed action plan.
  • Attend quarterly meetings.
  • Be ambassadors for LEAP Sports, utilising their partnerships and networks.
  • Represent FvH Scotland at events, including during the month of action in February and the Football v Transphobia week of action in March.
  • Represent and advocate for different LGBTIQ+ football stakeholders.

There are several positions available , with members expected to serve a 2 year term. We are looking for representatives from across LGBTIQ+ supporters groups, LGBTIQ+ inclusive grassroots clubs, the professional game, and mainstream football.

The group will be representative of all of our community and underrepresented groups in football are encouraged to apply. Trans people and those from rural communities will be particularly welcomed.
