From January to March 2025 we ran an introduction to climbing programme with Glasgow Queer Adventures (GQA) which included a bouldering taster session and top-roping taster and course, after which participants would be able to climb independently.

Learning to skate and play roller derby

In September 2024 we ran a learn to skate session with Glasgow Roller Derby (GRD). Following this, participants could sign-up to GRD’s 16 week new skater intake where they’d learn the fundamentals of roller derby, supported by Get Out Glasgow.

Weightlifting a couple's story of empowerment

Get Out Glasgow provides physical activity taster sessions and short courses for LGBTIQ+ over 18s who are based in Greater Glasgow. In January 2024 we ran an introduction to weightlifting taster session at AG Fitness. This was followed by an 8 week introduction to weightlifting course which ran from March to May 2024.

Just Active is a sports and activity project that supports LGBTIQ+ refugees and asylum seekers living in Glasgow to get active, try out new sports and to feel better connected to others and the local community. As part of this project we organised an 8 week strength training block for participants, delivered by Uplifted, who provide training for those that face barriers accessing mainstream gym spaces. Participants were empowered to try out new exercises and techniques around weightlifting and building strength safely and effectively.
