Miles from Ordinary

GFR flim launch

Glasgow FrontRunners have marked their 15th anniversary with the launch of Miles from Ordinary, a new short documentary celebrating the club, its community and the difference it has made in people’s lives.

LEAP Sports was delighted to join Glasgow FrontRunners for the film’s premiere on 25 July, bringing together members, friends and supporters to reflect on the club’s journey over the past 15 years.

Glasgow FrontRunners has grown from its beginnings in 2011 into a thriving running community. Thanks to a grant from the Glasgow 2026 Festival Fund, Miles from Ordinary tells some of that story through the people who have been part of it, exploring what an inclusive sports club can offer beyond the activity itself: friendship, belonging, confidence and a place where LGBTQIA+ people can participate and be themselves.

The film also captures something familiar across LGBTQIA+ sport: people come together to run, get fitter and challenge themselves, but along the way a sports club can become an important community too.

Following its premiere, Miles from Ordinary was also screened as part of Beyond the Sidelines: Sports Shorts at Pride House Glasgow, sharing the Glasgow FrontRunners story with its first public audience during the Commonwealth Games.

Congratulations to everyone at Glasgow FrontRunners on 15 years, and on creating a brilliant record of what the club and its community have built together.
