Get Out Glasgow upcoming events - June!

The Get Out Glasgow group provides free introductions to sport and physical activity for LGBTIQ+ people in Greater Glasgow. We aim to provide 2 taster sessions and 1 course every 3 months. If you are new to the group we can meet you for a 1:1 to discuss your interests and goals and support you to achieve these.

Check out our map of LGBTIQ+ sports clubs across Scotland. Many of these clubs are hosting events as part of Festival Fortnight in June. Contact if you'd like some support to engage in our club network.

In April we held the first Get Out Glasgow Steering Group meeting, the next meeting will be in October and will focus on the Equality Outcomes

Over the past month our participants have completed the weightlifting course, continued with the cycle confidence course, attended tango taster sessions, groomed horses at Riding for the Disabled and joined Weegie Whackers for a tennis session for women and non-binary people.

If you'd like to share how involvement in Get Out Glasgow has improved your health, wellbeing and social connections contact about being a case study or writing a blog about your experience.

Upcoming activities include:

  • Rebel Tango course - beginning Tuesday 28th May - full - only for people who took part in the taster sessions
  • Archery taster session with Glasgow Archers - 9.45am Sunday 9th June - fully booked
  • Festival Fortnight 17th-30th June - Scotland’s LGBTIQ+ sports festival - check out our programme of events here. Events include queer leadership in the outdoors, hockey, football, bike maintenance, running, basketball, tennis, badminton, climbing, baseball, rugby, tango and weightlifting!
  • Community Activity Day - Sunday 30th June 11am to 3pm. Try your hand at volleyball, give baseball a go, or kick around a football! Have fun with an egg-and-spoon race, try hula hooping, throw around a frisbee, or play some playground games. More info here. Register here.
  • Cycle touring course - a 6 week course for people who regularly cycle but who have never done a cycle tour. Delivered by Dynamo CIC from 6-8pm on Mondays from 22nd July - registrations will open in early July, after Festival Fortnight, but contact if you’re interested.
  • Men Minds are researching what things affect young men’s mental health and help-seeking, and what young men think about participating in mental health research. They are seeking young gay, bi and trans men aged 16-24, living in Scotland to participate in their research. More information is available here
  • Contact if you'd like to come to the next steering group meeting.
