Trans Active win at Glasgow's Sport Awards

Trans Active Glasgow are award winners

We are delighted to congratulate Trans Active Glasgow for winning the Glasgow Health and Wellbeing Award 2025 at the Glasgow’s Sport Awards 2025 last Monday evening.

The Glasgow Health and Wellbeing Award is given in partnership with the city’s Health and Social Care Partnership, and it honours clubs and organisations whose work uses physical activity and sport to deliver significant benefits for mental and physical wellbeing. By receiving this accolade, Trans Active Glasgow is recognised as making a real difference in promoting health, inclusion and community through sport.

The award was presented by Fiona Moss, Head of Planning at Glasgow City Council and Chair of the Health & Social Care Partnership. In accepting the award, Ellie Brownlie said:

“This year has been a difficult year for trans and non-binary people. In a room full of sports lovers and enthusiasts, I don't need to be saying how the last thing anyone should be worrying about [in accessing sport and physical activity] is whether you will be respected. This award tonight is Glasgow saying that trans people belong in sport and it really means a lot to the community - so thank you very much!"

Trans Active has given a lifeline opportunity to trans and non-binary people across Glasgow thanks to funding and support from the Glasgow Wellbeing Fund, managed by GCVS and resourced by the Scottish Government as part of the national Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund.

The 2025 Glasgow's Sport Awards, held at the Emirates Arena on 1 December and hosted by Glasgow Life, brought together Glasgow’s sporting community to celebrate achievement, participation, and leadership across clubs, individuals and grassroots activity.

Among the winners alongside Trans Active Glasgow were the WOMANity Project who won the Uniting Glasgow Award. This award is supported by LEAP Sports and it shines a spotlight on initiatives that actively break down barriers between communities, celebrating the power of sport to foster connection, understanding and solidarity across the city. The award was presented by LEAP Sports Executive Director Hugh Torrance and CEO of Glasgow Life, Kay Morrison.
