Uniting Glasgow Award 2024

Pollok United PACE project are winners

Pollok United are this year's winners in the Uniting Glasgow category at Glasgow's Sports Awards, winning for their PACE Project. This project offers free football and support to asylum seekers and refugees from often acting as an entry point into living in Glasgow and providing an opportunity to meet others from the same country.

LEAP Sports are delighted to be the Award Partner for the Uniting Glasgow category. This is an Award which recognises an organisation or project that uses physical activity or sport to bring people and communities together in Glasgow. Nominations can be for either organisations or projects that have delivered targeted activities to build more cohesive communities within the Glasgow City Council boundary.

The category was highly contested this year with the Weegie Whackers Tennis Club and Sapphire Gymnastics also being shortlisted.

The Weegie Whackers are a tennis club in Glasgow for the LGBTQ+ community, encouraging them to pick up a racket and get out onto the court. Formed during Pride season 2023, they offer social tennis sessions for all abilities.
