LGBT+ History Month Bowling
2nd March 2026
Roundup of results 2026
For LGBT+ History Month we saw the much anticipated return of the LEAP Sports bowling tournaments. Teams from across the country competed in five hotly contested tournaments, the Supporters Cup and the West, East, North and Youth Community Cups. Coming together for some friendly competition and to celebrate our community's history.
We kicked things off with the West Community Cup in Glasgow’s Hollywood Bowl. Nine teams competed in total with the Weegie Whackers, Glasgow’s LGBTIQ+ tennis club, acing it to win the Cup for the first time. Previous winners, Glasgow Frontrunners, were hot on their heels in a close second. The evening finished with a raffle which we raised over £200, thank you to everyone who contributed!

Next we were in Edinburgh’s World of Bowling for the East Community Cup. Five teams competed for the cup, with the Edinburgh Racqueteers claiming back the cup after losing out to the Edinburgh Frontrunners last year. In a close second was fellow racquet sports club Edinburgh Curveballs.
The Supporters Cup raises much needed funds for LEAP’s youth work. This year the tournament took place in Glasgow’s Bowlarama, with Scottish Student Sport winning the cup on their first attempt. Last year’s winners LGBTQ+@Sky were a close second, with Barclay’s Spectrum and HSBC’s pride network also competing. A massive thank you to you all.

On the 22nd, LGBTIQ+ youth groups across Scotland competed in the 13th annual Youth Cup in Falkirk. The local group FK1nclude from LGBT Youth Scotland were winners, congratulations. They were followed by youth sports group LLAMAS, and SAGA from East Renfrewshire. Well done everyone and thank you for coming along!
