Claire Mackenzie as Scotland flagbearer
17th July 2025
EuroGames Lyon 2025
Following a nomination process, the flagbearer for Team Scotland at this year's EuroGames in Lyon has been announced as Claire Mackenzie.
This year will be Claire’s third EuroGames. Despite facing injury meaning that she is unable to play, Claire has put her boundless energy and enthusiasm into coaching, organising and many other tasks that benefit and inspire the team. Claire plays floorball for the Perth Parrots and sees sport as a way to build a community. Not surprising as Claire is also a founder member of Perthshire Pride, a longstanding volunteer with Pride, and a powerful advocate for queer issues in rural Scotland.
As well as her work with Perth Parrots, Claire was on the organising team of the inaugural Qeltic Games and has been working hard to promote Team Scotland.
Those who nominated her talked about Claire's reliability, and her consistently showing up for others.
"She is a beacon of representation in sport and there would be no better representative to carry out flag in Lyon this summer."
"Claire is an advocate for all, and someone who has put so much time and effort into supporting Team Scotland. I believe she is a perfect candidate to be a flag bearer."
Congratulations to Claire.
