Engaging LGBTIQ+ Young People in 2025
15th December 2025
We engaged young people in physical activity throughout the year, improving confidence and wellbeing, increasing feelings of belonging in sport, cultivating friendships, and creating spaces for fun. We did this through the following projects and events:
Family Group
21 bimonthly events of different sports with 10 6-12-year-old gender diverse children and 14 siblings, providing a safer space for sport, belonging, and family support.
LLAMAS LGBTIQ+ Youth Sports Group
18 sports in 40 weekly events with 13 13-17-year-old LGBTIQ+ young people, offering regular inclusive physical activity for those who may not feel comfortable taking part in mainstream sports.
Youth Cup
7 LGBTIQ+ youth groups at the Youth Cup, as part of the annual LGBT History Month National Tenpin Bowling Tournament, happening again in February 2026.
Trans*Camp youth exchange
5 trans young people taking part in the Trans*Camp youth exchange to Barcelona which brought together trans* young people from across Europe to participate in sports in an inclusive space, as well as share their experiences of being a trans* young person.
Pride Youth Games 2025
We were delighted to host Pride Youth Games in Scotland again this year in August! The weekend sports residential for LGBTIQ+ young people took place in Largs with 92 people taking part to try 28 different sports in a weekend full of fun, LGBTIQ+ community connection, and opportunities to try new things in an inclusive environment.
This year’s event marked 10 years of Pride Youth Games which we were excited to celebrate with 10 youth groups from Scotland, England, Wales, and this year also Ireland and (for the first time ever) Northern Ireland! What a special time.
The vast majority of participants report feeling better about themselves and more motivated to do physical activity as a result of taking part. We loved hearing feedback like “it was really fun and has gotten me into sports in a positive way. It’s amazing how many new sports I learned and was able to put my all into without having to feel awkward or pull myself back”.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers for making this event possible! Thank you to everyone who participated and to all the sports providers who enabled young LGBTIQ+ people to try so many different activities! Read more about the event here.
We’re already looking forward to next year’s Games in Lancaster on the 31st July to 2nd August, organised by Pride Sports.

We look forward to another year of great events and projects with young people!
