First Festival Fortnight 2017 Event Announced

LEAP are pleased to announce the first event for our Festival Fortnight is live for bookings!

Theatre production Gypsy Queen is presented by Rob Ward and Hope Theatre Company and follows the story of ‘Gorgeous’ George O’Connell, bare-knuckle fighter and traveller, who enters the world of professional boxing which puts him on a collision course with his roots, his identity and his greatest fear. In the opposite corner, gay boxer Dane ‘The Pain’ Samson is fighting his own battles that lead to a tragedy that neither could predict.

Gypsy Queen will be followed by a Q&A with the performers and a short panel discussion on the key themes from the film which will include LEAP Sports Scotland, Knockout Glasgow and Boxing Scotland. The event takes place at CCA Glasgow with tickets available here.

Festival Fortnight takes place 1st to 14th June and will feature a range of activities highlighting LGBTI issues and sport. LEAP are offering small grants for community groups and organisations to put on their own event as part of the Festival.
