LEAP Sports is supporting the Find Your Team campaign

Everyone at LEAP Sports Scotland is delighted to see the launch of a new campaign by Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH), sportscotland and Young Scot. The Find Your Team campaign is all about encouraging people to overcome feelings of social isolation by getting involved in group sport or physical activity.
Find Your Team highlights how taking part in sport or physical activity is a great way to connect with new people, as joining a team or club can create both a sense of belonging and a shared interest. At LEAP Sports Scotland we know this well. The personal accounts contained in our our 2017 Sport Changes Lives series show us examples of how LGBTIQ+ people across Scotland have found community, improved their wellbeing, and changed their lives through sport and physical activity.
Are you looking for an LGBTIQ+ friendly sports club?
If you are looking to find your own team, you can browse our Club Finder for activities run by LGBTIQ+ friendly groups in your area. And we would also love for you to join one of the LEAP Sports Scotland projects, which offer regular events and sports courses for the community. Does your club want to support the campaign?
If you are lucky enough to already be part of a club, you can show your support for the campaign! The sportscotland website has a useful toolkit on how to get involved. Here are three of our suggestions of things you can do:
- Social media: On this page you can access templates for social media, which you're asked to use alongside the hashtag #FeelPartOfSomething. Please tag @LEAPSportsScotland in your posts as well!
- Sharing your stories: SAMH welcome anyone who’d like to share articles, videos or case studies featuring members who have found their team and enjoyed the social benefits of sport.
- Welcoming new members: Finally, some of you might be interested in these tips that sportscotland have shared for clubs who are wanting to welcome new members.
