Football v Homophobia Month of Action 2026
4th March 2026
2026 Roundup
Every February the Football v Homophobia campaign, coordinated by LEAP Sports, invites football stakeholders across the country to take a stand against LGBTIQ+ discrimination in the game. In 2026 we saw action across all levels of Scottish football and across the country.
The month kicked off with Rangers FC dedicating their home fixture against Kilmarnock on the 4th of February. The LGBT+ Rangers supporters group, Ibrox Pride, were there in support and that same week picked up the FvH Scotland award in London as well as coming second in the Supporters Group category. Stenhousemuir’s Rainbow Warriors and Slay FC, coming second and third in the Scotland award, joined Ibrox Pride for a strong Scottish showing at the awards ceremony in London.

We also so more dedicated fixtures and action across the SPFL and SWPL. Hibernian featured their supporter's group, Hibees Pride, on Hibernian TV. Celtic dedicated their men’s fixture against Hibs and their women’s fixture against Hearts on Sunday 22nd. On the final day of the campaign St. Johnstone featured their new supporter's group, Proud Saintees, in their programme and the campaign's logo on the big screen.

There was also dedicated action across the LGBTIQ+ grassroots football community. LGBT Unity, a Glasgow based group supporting refugees, held a match against LEAP Sports’ Get Out Glasgow and Trans Active projects. Saltire Thistle FC created dedicated online content sharing their players experiences of why the month and wider campaign is important. At Edinburgh University Slay FC hosted a panel event discussing queer inclusion in sport, with speakers from the student's union, university shinty team, Trans Active Edinburgh, Quadball and their own team.
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the Month of Action 2026. The Football v Transphobia Week of Action starts on the 25th of March, if you would like to be involved or in any other aspects of the campaign please email info@leapsports.org
