Get Out Glasgow July News

3rd July 2025

The Get Out Glasgow group provides free introductions to sport and physical activity for LGBTIQ+ people in Greater Glasgow.

Last month there were over 60 events in Glasgow as part of Festival Fortnight, including our annual Gaylidh which had 87 attendees. We’d love to hear your feedback, please complete the participant evaluation form for any events you attended.

Cycle Touring course for LGBTIQ+ women

Our LGBTIQ+ women’s cycling project enjoyed learning about bike maintenance with Dynamo CIC. Next up, an introduction to cycle touring course for LGBTIQ+ women. If you cycle for transport but have never done a cycle tour and would like to work towards this with other LGBTIQ+ people apply here by 15th July, course starts 23rd July 6-8pm. Over 6 sessions the group will go for some bike rides which will increase in length based on the ability of the group. Participants will also learn about what to wear, eat and pack, how to plan an enjoyable route, cycling safely in a group and how to safety check your bike.

Ruth who’s been teaching on the LGBTIQ+ women’s cycling project has also invited us to a couple of events at Clyde Cycle Park in Cambuslang. Register here to try out an e-bike on a 2hr led ride on Saturday 5th July and register here to join a 1hr women’s cycle lesson on Saturday 19th July.

If you’d like to cycle but don’t have access to a bike contact Gallanttravel@glasgow.ac.uk to take part in a 9 week study which includes the use of a bike and helmet and a £100 reward for completing the study.
