Get Out Glasgow upcoming events June 2024

The Get Out Glasgow group provides free introductions to sport and physical activity for LGBTIQ+ people in Greater Glasgow.

Over the past month our participants have completed the Rebel Tango course and the cycle confidence course, attended an archery taster session with Glasgow Archers, participants in the weightlifting course also attended a weightlifting challenge to demonstrate their progress.

We have of course also been preparing for Festival Fortnight, Scotland’s LGBTIQ+ sports festival which started on Monday and includes:

Other upcoming activities include:

  • Community Activity Day - Sunday 30th June 11am to 3pm. Try your hand at volleyball, give baseball a go, or kick around a football! Have fun with an egg-and-spoon race, try hula hooping, throw around a frisbee, or play some playground games. More info here. Register here.
  • Roller Derby - come along to Glasgow Women’s Library open archive showcasing the National Museum of Roller Derby on Saturday 13th July from 1-3pm. Register here. This event form part of our new roller derby programme which will also include a trip to Chaos on the Clyde in August and a roller derby taster session with Glasgow Roller Derby in September, before their next intake of new skaters
  • Cycle touring course - a 6 week course for people who regularly cycle but who have never done a cycle tour. Delivered by Dynamo CIC from 6-8pm on Mondays from 22nd July - register here.
  • Kinder Better Stronger are hosting an LGBTIQ+ coffee and lunch club on Saturday 13th July from 12-2pm for anyone with addiction experience at Glasgow Council on Alcohol for more information please contact Michael ksb@thegca.org.uk
