Jumpers for Goalposts

We are looking for a school or education network to host a special performance of Jumpers for Goalposts.
Is your local authority or school still looking for a way to mark LGBT History Month in 2019? Are you interested in developing awareness and discussion of LGBTIQ+ equality within physical education and school sport? LEAP Sports Scotland have teamed up with Saltire Sky Theatre Company for a special schools performance of Jumpers for Goalposts, and we are looking for a local authority, school, education group or network to host it.
Jumpers for Goalposts
Saltire Sky Theatre Company’s production of Jumpers for Goalposts follows Geoff, Danny, Viv, Joe and Luke who play in the Leith Gay and Lesbian five-a-side football tournament. Fitness, friendships and fabulous Moroccan cuisine are put to the test in Tom Wells' heartwarming and hilarious look into gay culture and what it means to truly be accepted — no matter your story.
What LEAP Sports and Saltire Sky Theatre Company will do
- Provide the performance free of charge
- Provide either a Q and A discussion panel or an educational activity afterwards
- Work with you to develop promotional material with the education network or school
What we need you to do
- Provide a venue space with a sound system to host the production. The theatre company will need access at least a day before for rehearsal. An intimate space works best with around capacity for 100-150 maximum.
- Make a commitment to bringing an audience together. A single school is great, a multi-school approach is ideal. The play is considered suitable for S3 upwards (age 13+).
Date options
19th — 22nd, 25th or 26th February coinciding with the Football v Homophobia month of action and LGBT History Month.
17th — 21st, 25th or 26th June as part of the LEAP Sports Festival Fortnight focusing on LGBTI equality in sport.
