Scottish Parliament elections
The Scottish Parliament election is on 7th May 2026 which comes at a time of great uncertainty for LGBTQIA+ people in Scotland.
We have collaborated with partners across the LGBTQIA+ sector to publish the Scottish LGBTQIA+ Manifesto for 2026-2031. The group consists of Equality Network, Scottish Trans, LGBT Youth Scotland and LGBT Health and Wellbeing. As charities representing and supporting LGBTQIA+ people across Scotland, we know that this election comes at a time of great uncertainty for many in our community, as we face significant setbacks to our equality and human rights against the backdrop of a rising, anti-LGBTQIA+ climate in Scotland.
Everyone in Scotland, regardless of who they are, who they love, their background or identity, deserves to have their human rights realised and to be treated with dignity.
We believe that the next Scottish Parliament can be an opportunity for a reset - but we need our newly elected officials to show strong leadership, take a stand and make changes that will address the inequality, discrimination and exclusion that far too many LGBTQIA+ people continue to face.
This manifesto sets out exactly what the next Scottish Government and Scottish Parliament can do to improve LGBTQIA+ people’s lives in Scotland. Stay tuned via our social media and our newsletter as we will publish spotlights and further insight into areas of the Manifesto.

We have incorporated our asks around widening participation and inclusion in sport of LGBTQIA+ people in Section 2: Equal Society and in Section 4: A Shared Society.

Want to make your voice heard? We’re hosting an LGBTQIA+ Hustings Event at the Social Hub Glasgow on 9th April at 7pm. Come to hear from candidates, submit questions and ask about how their parties will improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ people across Scotland.
