Shawlands Activist wins National Award

Theo scoops top prize

Youth activist Theo Pieczka-Garner came away a winner at this year's Youth Sport Trust Awards. At the ceremony on 28th February, Theo won the national children’s charity’s Beckwith CARE Award which recognises and rewards best practice and achievements through PE and sport by schools, colleges, and young people.

Everyone here at LEAP Sports is delighted and extremely proud of Theo.

Team Shawlands at the Youth Sport Trust Conference 2019

The theme of the Youth Sport Trust conference was Transforming Education Through Sport, a fitting backdrop to Theo's win. Speaking to LEAP, Principal Teacher of PE Sandra Leitch said "We were honoured to present at the Youth Sport Trust conference on the work we have done in PE and Sport across Shawlands Academy".

The Shawlands team presented on their inclusive sports work including the co-produced Manifesto which was launched nationally at Shawlands Academy back in 2017. If you or your school are interested in finding out more about the Manifesto or signing up to it, then check it out here
