Team Scotland flagbearers announced

Following a nomination process, the flagbearers for Team Scotland at this year's Gay Games in Valencia have been announced as Gurch Sanghera from Dundee Deuces, and Andy Crumpton from Glasgow Frontrunners.

This is the first year that two flagbearers have been selected, showcasing both the growth in Team Scotland and the exceptionally high quality of nominees. Gurch and Andy follow in the footsteps of last year's flagbearer Claire McKenzie.  

As a tennis beginner having joined community club Dundee Deuces, Gurch Sanghera went on to win a silver medal in his category at his first Team Scotland outing at EuroGames Lyon 2025. Those who nominated Gurch recognised his incredible journey in the sport, his consistent ambassadorial representation for the club and his very high standards for the club. He was described as a "fantastic force".  

Gurch said "It’s a huge honour to be asked to be a flag bearer for Scotland at these games. I feel pride on many different levels and look forward to leading our team Scotland on Saturday".

Andy Crumpton from Glasgow Frontrunners was described as the driving force behind the clubs high participant numbers at external events, including this year's Gay Games, and has pushed wider participation beyond running. Andy was praised for ensuring that inclusion, health and wellbeing were high priorities for his club.

Andy said he was "honoured to carry one of Scotland’s flags into the Gay Games in Valencia. It really is shaping up to be a celebration of pride, inclusion, and unity. This is about more than sport; it’s about showing the world that everyone belongs and anyone can take part!
