Volunteer with us!
26th September 2016

At LEAP Sports Scotland we’re ambitious about the difference we can make to our society, to increase access and opportunity for LGBTI people in sport and physical activity.
We work at all levels with community groups, professional clubs, schools, national governing bodies, international campaign groups, the Scottish government, and individual people in the community, to make sporting environments welcoming and rewarding for LGBTI people in Scotland.
As a small charity with a national remit, with projects and activities stretching all over the country, we rely on the contributions of volunteers to support and expand upon the work of our small staff team to collectively make the impact upon Scottish sport that we know is necessary.
Some of our volunteers help out very occasionally, perhaps acting as home-hosts for visiting practitioners, activists, or delegates for events. Some contribute more regularly, helping with logistics, fundraising, and promotion of the various big projects we run throughout the year, such as our Pride House events, our annual Festival Fortnight, or our involvement with projects such as Free Pride and Pride Glasgow during the summer. Others give time regularly every week as part of our regular work pattern, collaborating with our staff team on ongoing projects that suit their interests, or being the active voice of the organisation on social media.
Over the next couple of weeks we will be running the first of many volunteer information and recruitment evenings to reach out and bring new voices into the organisation. The dates for upcoming events are as follows:
Glasgow: Tuesday 27th September – 7pm – 8:30pm
Terrence Higgins Trust – Glasgow Offices
Breckenridge House
274 Sauchiehall St

Both of these venues are fully accessible and refreshments will be provided. If you have any support or access needs you wish to discuss with us, please do not hesitate to contact Freya Gosnold, the LEAP project officer for volunteering by email at freya@leapsports.org
We are committed to doing everything we can to support equality and diversity within the organisation, and would particularly encourage prospective volunteers from groups typically underrepresented in sports and physical activity such as trans women, non-binary people, intersex people, and members of the BME and/or disabled communities, to come forward and claim your space in the shaping of the world you’d like to see.
If you cannot make it along to one of our recruitment evenings, but are keen to get involved – you can register your interest by filling in our volunteer application form online: https://goo.gl/forms/stubKj3cFjQuvZLE3
We are excited to welcome lots of new faces into the organisation, and whatever your skills, background, or ambitions, we’d love to hear from you!
