LGBTIQ+ Sport & Physical Activity Conference 2022

Friday 28th October, City of Glasgow College

LEAP Sports hosts a biennial conference and we are pleased to announce our first in-person conference after the last couple of years of pandemic disruption. We invite partners and stakeholders to join us on Friday 28th October for a one day conference at City of Glasgow College.

At our conference we will be hearing from speakers from across the sports sector, and including a focus on a human rights approach to LGBTIQ+ inclusion in sport.

We are also doing an exciting collaboration with Sports Media LGBT+ and Pride of the Terraces to host one of their "Authentic Me" sports panels as part of our conference reception on the evening of Thursday 27th October. We will be in touch with registered participants to sign up soon. Read more about previous #AuthenticMe events here

Changing LGBTI+ Lives through Sport and Physical Activity (2018)

Our 2018 conference explored the impact and good practice in supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people's inclusion and participation in sport and physical activity.  We heard about initiatives and practices which have made a huge difference, from some of the sports bodies and clubs doing some of this work, as well as personal stories and up-to-date research on LGBTI+ people's experiences across Scotland and beyond.

You can find the conference programme and list of speakers here.

Diverse Identities in Sport (2016)

Our 2016 conference focused on the issue of inclusion of transgender, intersex, non-binary, gender queer, asexual and other diverse identities related to gender and sexuality in their intersections with other identities within a sport context, and looked at practice and strategy for inclusion. It looked at a range of pathways but primarily focused on access level, grassroots and recreational sport.  The conference was organised as a part of the Annual General Assembly of the EGLSF which was hosted by LEAP Sports.

The list of speakers can be found here.
