Community Development Officer (Perth)

The Community Development Officer will lead a programme of activity aiming to increase LGBTIQ+ people’s engagement with sport and physical activity, and to improve health, mental wellbeing and social connectedness of LGBTIQ+ people across Perthshire. Through this work we aim to build a vibrant and connected local LGBTIQ+ sport and physical activity community, and to ensure this is connected to similar activity around Scotland.

The successful applicant will: 

●Support and promote the engagement of LGBTIQ+ people across Perthshire in physical activity, sport and the outdoors.

●Work in partnership with LGBTIQ+ people in Perthshire ensuring that their experiences and views are directly embedded into the project and to the wider work of LEAP Sports.

●Develop leadership, volunteering and activism skills and opportunities for LGBTIQ+ people.

●Create local networks and engage with them in the planning of the Qeltic Games event that is scheduled for August 2023.

●Work with local stakeholders to organise and support key events locally to raise awareness of equality issues, improve access and participation and to develop opportunities for LGBTIQ+ people.

●Share relevant learning through local networks, digital platforms and national projects.

The job is home based in Perthshire with regular travel around Perthshire and sometimes across Scotland. The job is 10.5 hours per week (equivalent to 1.5 workind days) with a salary of £23,900 per annum pro rata. The contract will be initially fixed term until the end of March 2023 but with the intention to extend if funding can be secured.
