Edinburgh Queer Hiking

Walking / Outdoor Activities in Edinburgh

About the club

Edinburgh Queer Hiking promotes inclusivity and social justice through being in the outdoors and building a community of queer folks who enjoy hiking and nature. As a queer hiking group we want to make our hikes into a safe queer space inclusive of all people who fall across the spectrum of LGBTQIA+ identities.

We meet once a month for a hike in or near Edinburgh. All hikes are accessible by public transport, and we have a hiking equipment library to lend hiking shoes, trekking poles, etc. to people who may lack the right gear to participate. The group is not about about competition or fitness, but to create a friendly, inclusive space to meet new people and enjoy being outdoors while exploring new areas of Edinburgh/Scotland. People of all hiking abilities are welcome, and we organise hikes of different difficulties and lengths.

In addition to our main hikes, we also have regular weekday hikes organized by one of our volunteers. We are currently planning to start offering shorter, more accessible introductory hikes and hikes that are exclusively for BIPOC folks.

Cost

Events are free of charge, but there is usually the cost of public transport involved.
