How 2 the Hills

Partnership project with Mhor Outdoor and Maryhill Integration Network concludes
LEAP Sports has recently partnered in a project to improve access and confidence in the Scottish hills for people who are currently under-represented in the outdoor industry. The How 2 the Hills project was run by Mhor Outdoor and funded through The National Lottery. They identified two communities which normally face financial and/or social exclusion from outdoor activity; refugee/asylum seekers and the LGBTIQ+ community.
The project created a series of infocards called ‘How 2 the Hills’, together with participants and outdoor authorities (including Mountaineering Scotland) which aimed to improve knowledge and confidence for new hikers. The infocards were used in a summer hiking series developing confidence, fitness and skills in the outdoors, and you can access the video workshops, route plans, and the full set of infocards here.
Or click the image below to download the Guide as a booklet which contains accessibility information including how to handle Gender Dysphoria out in the hills.
Some strong outcomes were achieved through the project, including those below. With huge thanks to Mhor Outdoor and to Maryhill Integration Network for their collaboration.
