New LGBTIQ+ Inclusion Resources for Youth Workers and Educators

The Erasmus+ project Rainbow Youth 2.0 has created new LGBTIQ+ inclusion resources for youth workers and educators.

These three new resources are aimed at assessing and increasing youth workers' and educators' competences in working with LGBTIQ+ young people. The Rainbow Youth 2.0 project, finished at the end of 2023, was an initiative dedicated to the promotion of LGBTIQ+ inclusion in youth work and education settings. We recognised the urgent need to address and challenge exclusion, discrimination, and misunderstanding faced by LGBTIQ+ young people. Through our multifaceted approach, we aimed to cultivate an environment where diversity is celebrated, and every individual feels seen, respected, and valued.

We believe that education and understanding are key in fostering inclusion. We identified specific gaps in the existing resources and training available to youth workers and educators regarding LGBTIQ+ inclusion, and designed our project to bridge these gaps effectively.

We have developed a series of interconnected tools and resources to empower youth workers and educators to work better with LGBTIQ+ young people:
>The Competence Framework outlines the essential competences needed to support LGBTIQ+ young people and can be used to assess one's competences to identify where further development is needed. It comprises five different competences, each broken down into attitudes, knowledge, skills, and behaviours, along with indicators. Access the Competence Framework here.
>The eLearning Platform (RY2.0 Academy) offers accessible, high-quality training modules online, providing the foundational knowledge and practical skills for LGBTIQ+ inclusive youth work. It includes six training modules, which are engaging, interactive, and available to anyone with internet access. Access the RY2.0 Academy here.
>The Manual complements the digital learning experience with practical activities, best practice of LGBTIQ+ inclusion in youth work, and up-to-date theory to help youth workers and educators implement inclusion into their practice. Access the Rainbow Youth Manual here.

All these resources are available in the project languages: English, Spanish, Italian, and Slovak. The RY2.0 project was made possible with the funding from the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission. The project partnership consisted of LEAP Sports Scotland (UK), Colectivo MosaiQ (Spain), Associazione Eufemia (Italy), and Saplinq O.Z. (Slovakia).
